CAVE TOWER RUINS

CAVE TOWER RUINS
CAVE TOWER RUINS

Cave Towers is a short hike of just over one mile roundtrip to a well preserved free-standing ruin that makes a nice stop while traveling along Highway 95. When I visited in October, 2023, a new parking area, trailhead and loop trail had just recently been developed. You will turn south on a dirt road with a gate between mile markers 102 and 103, and continue about a quarter-mile to the parking area. Since the road to the parking area was a little rough, I just parked at the gate to be safe.

The loop trail will take you right up to the ruin pictured above and to a viewing area along the canyon rim where you can see several other ruins across the canyon below a ledge. I didn't see an easy way to access these ruins, so I didn't attempt to reach them. However, I have seen photos of people standing by petroglyphs and another nice ruin in this area, so there may be more to see beyond the main ruin if you are willing to put in some effort and can find some good directions.
